What do you long for in this life? Some long to get through it. Some long for riches. Some just don’t really care, they will take whatever life gives them.
David, Moses, Daniel, Gideon and others longed for nothing more than the presence of God. They longed to hear His voice and to know His truth.
David admitted he was nothing without God.
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.””
Psalms 16:1-2 NKJV
Moses didn’t want to go without God
“Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.””
Exodus 33:15-16 NKJV
Daniel wouldn’t leave God because God was the most important thing in his life.
He knelt three times a day toward Jerusalem and prayed for forgiveness, mercy, provision, and change. Even under the direction of a King, Daniel would not stop loving God.
What is it that you long for? The things of this world? They are temporary and they do not last. Even when children are growing up they ask for this and that and want this and that. Yet how many of you have what you longed for so much as a child? Where are those toys now?
God can give you things that the world can’t offer and the things you receive from Him are eternal, not temporal. Why not long for His presence, His guidance, His truth. Why not long for His love, grace and mercy.
You see we are NOTHING without HIM. He is our source, our strength, our light. Fill yourself up with Him instead of things that will be destroyed.
LONG FOR HIM
